There’s been a decent amount of snow around for the last month or so and it seems it’s here for good (well, hopefully spring will arrive at some point next year).
I’ve been getting out fairly regularly on the fatbike (as well as doing some running too!) which is nice and has given me hope that I’ll not only survive the cold dark winter months but maybe even emerge at the other side with a sniff of form???
Here are a few shots of a ride from a couple of days ago:
I also managed to get out for a sneaky overnighter for the first time since May!!!
Last Saturday evening I packed up some kit and, after putting the kids to bed, buggered off into the forest.
I was keen to see how the fatbike rode with all of bikepacking kit attached and I wasn’t disappointed.
Here’s the bike loaded up:
The forecast said that the temperature would be around -9°c but it felt much colder!
With post-ride analysis I realise now that my sleeping mat and sleeping bag were a little lacking for the conditions which meant that I spent a cold and fairly unpleasant night out before returning early on the Sunday morning feeling less than fully rested (though happy to have all of my fingers and toes!).
I’ve got some other bits of kit and combinations of kit to try and so am looking forward to getting out again soon for another night under the stars.
